What is alive in your body right now? What happens when you listen to it, follow it and allow it to move?
We, Alive is a series of four contemporary dance workshops for dancers aged 50+, inviting participants to explore movement through curiosity, presence and connection.
The workshops are inspired by the creative process behind We, Alive, my work created for Holland Dance Festival 2026 by choreographer Laisvie Ochoa. At the heart of the work is a simple question: what is alive within us? Rather than focusing on what the body can no longer do, we explore what it can discover, express and share today.
Each session combines contemporary dance flows, improvisation and creative composition. We will work with different qualities of movement, rhythm, space and musicality, while paying attention to the sensations and possibilities of each individual body. Through sensitivity and imagination, we will practice listening to ourselves, making choices and allowing movement to emerge rather than always planning it in advance.
We will also explore how an individual movement can become part of something collective. Sometimes we dance alone; sometimes we work in pairs or as a group. We will experiment with how bodies can support, echo, contrast and inspire one another, creating a shared movement language.
The workshops are not about achieving a particular aesthetic or performing a fixed sequence perfectly. They are an invitation to cultivate the pleasure of movement and enriching your possibilities.
You don't need to be a professional dancer. What matters is your curiosity and your desire to move.
Come with your experience, your history and the body you have today. There is always something alive to discover.
