We are happy to share that ConCuerpos recently took part in the 6th edition of the biennial DanceAble Symposium, presented by Holland Dance Festival in The Hague!

Curated by Kimberley Harvey and Irene van Zeeland, this year’s theme was “Inclusive by Design”—a powerful call to stop treating inclusion as an afterthought and instead weave it directly into the creation of dance. Surrounded by international artists, researchers, and cultural leaders, we felt right at home sharing our practice and pushing the boundaries of what dance can be.

During the event, we had the honor of performing a fragment of our piece, Focaris. Bringing this work to the stage of the Amare Studio was a a great experience. We shared a fragment that we called the Collective Poem, where we dance in the darkness inspired by Sign Language. Also, we showed and adaped version onf the solos from Dennis and Anneloes, where they share their inner fire including creative audio description.

We left the symposium deeply inspired by the conversations, the feedback from the audience, and the shared commitment to building a dance sector that doesn't just welcome diversity, but truly flourishes because of it.

Thank you to the Holland Dance Festival and Europe Beyond Access for having us, and to everyone who shared this space of dialogue and imagination with us!
