ABOUT LAISVIE:

I am an artist interested in expanding what dance can be by breaking down barriers of participation and involving different languages. I believe in the strength of the collective and I understand art as a tool to generate positive change in society.

I love dancing on the ground and moving through spirals—up and down, in and out. I love to connect and inspire connections so we can enjoy dancing together.

I believe movement is our first language, and that there are many organic pathways to explore it. I also believe we can refine our way of thinking through movement by dancing.

For these reasons, I seek to create joyful and accessible spaces for movement research.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:

This is an intermediate-level workshop open to both professionals and committed amateurs. I trust you’ll be able to judge for yourself if it’s right for you.

Becoming a tongue, chewing gum, felines, and spiralling galaxies.

In this workshop, I’ll invite you to cultivate your bodily intelligence through dance sequences, guided improvisations and instant composition structures. From playfulness and the abundance of imagination, we will develop diverse relationships with ourselves, the floor and others. In the first part, we will lay, roll, slide, glide, jump, turn, etc. In the second part, we will connect, touch, exchange weight, lift each other and flow. This is part of my ongoing investigation on developing images to melt the mind and awaken the instinct of the multiform body. Please come prepared for serious work, study hard, and always play!

I recommend attending all three days, but it’s also possible to come for just one or two.
